This magnificent box is as much a piece of art as it is a place to store your memories. Created by Peter B. and Judi Kurth, the boxes are reproduced to the exact specifications of the “Shakers*,” some of the most magnificent artisans of America’s past. The box is made of hard maple, with the cover made from birdseye maple, using the original materials used in making the boxes decades ago, down to the very tiny brass nails that are now available in such limited supplies. The finish is a clear lacquer that is then hand waxed giving them a warm, comforting glow.
The Kurth’s, who have also experienced the death of their son, want people to know that it is with reverence and deep compassion that they produce these boxes. They hope that they will become part of your healing process, and want you to know that their prayers are included with each box they make.
This box ix the "Cherubim” size, appr. W6.5”xL9.5”xH3.75”, approx. 160 cubic inches. This box could hold the ashes of an adult (up to about 150 pounds), large mementos such as a baseball, 4x6 picture prints, funeral cards, etc.
*The United Society of Believers in Christ’s Second Appearance, better known to the world as the “Shakers” came to the U.S. from Europe in the 1800s. They were a very industrious and spiritual people, famous for their fine craftsmanship and deeply religious convictions. Today there are only a handful of Shakers still surviving. Their legacy is the simplicity, yet functional design of everything they built....it was this perfectionism that made their work part of their daily worship to God. “Hands to work -- Hearts to God.”
REMEMBER, the price reflects that this is an individually hand-crafted, and hand-waxed box, no two will be alike. LIMITED STOCK, when they are gone, we will offer no more.
