IN MEMORY OF
A POEM FOR MY UNBORN BABY
by Mummy and Daddy:
Iíll never forget the joy we felt to hear you were on your way,
Or the heartbreak when we were told you were not to stay.
The grief we felt on losing you was more than we could bear,
Even though your face unseen, didnít mean we did not care.
We may not have even held you, had the chance to stroke your hair,
But to give you and take you seemed to us, so unfair.
Nobody else could understand how deep the sorrow,
And how it stayed with us both every morrow.
Even now, eight years on, we will always feel the pain,
The broken heart unmended and the tears still flow like rain.
And though you have a sister now and a brother too,
In our hearts, they will never take the place of you.
For there is a space quite never filled, deep within our heart,
A space which has been empty since the day we had to part.
And though we know some day from now, we will together,
We will love you and remember you until the end of never.
